Job Description:
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Science at Louisiana State University invites applicants for an open faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. This is a clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate or professor. Rank and salary are commensurate with the individuals experience and qualifications.Job Responsibilities:
(Clinical Track) 70% Anesthesia support for the small, large and zoo-exotic animal services within the teaching hospital, and participation in after-hours emergency service. Clinical responsibilities will be shared with other members of the anesthesia service (total of 3 anesthesiologists, 7 technicians, up to 3 house officers (residents and interns) and an instructor. 20% Contribute towards didactic and laboratory instruction in veterinary anesthesiology and teaching of clinical veterinary anesthesia and analgesia to veterinary students. Contribute towards didactic and laboratory instruction in veterinary anesthesiology to the anesthesia house officers and technicians. Cooperate with other faculty members in training interns/residents. Contribute towards Louisiana's community by collaborating with LVMA and BRAVMA annually continuing education. Active participant in the college of specialty, ACVAA. 10% Independent and collaborative research endeavors.Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Professor:
DVM or equivalent degreeAssociate Professor:
DVM or equivalent degree and 5 years of related research / teaching / clinical experience; Diplomat status from theACVAA / ECVAA.
Full Professor:
DVM or equivalent degree and 8 years of related research / teaching / clinical experience; Diplomat status from theACVAA / ECVAA.
Minimum Certifications/Licenses:
Successful completion of an American or European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA / ECVAA) approved residency program. Must be eligible for a Louisiana veterinary faculty license.Preferred Qualifications:
Diplomat status from theACVAA / ECVAA
All ranks: Strong teaching abilities, advanced degrees and/or experience in team research.Job Responsibilities:

Required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and "on-call"/relief shifts. Per PS 18- This position is a part of the Emergency Response Personnel - these personnel are linked with the hospital during any emergency response event and are expected to report in and perform as outlined in the emergency response plan. Required to be capable of more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (near sight), vision (far sight), kneel or sit on the floor, push/pulling, grasping, climbing, sitting, and/or bending. •Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position is subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67•Special Instructions:
