Job Description

The Johns Hopkins William H. Miller III Department of Philosophy in Baltimore, Maryland, seeks a philosopher of outstanding international reputation or promise for a tenure-track position as Miller Faculty Fellow and Assistant Professor of Philosophy. The position is for someone who has a PhD in Philosophy, or a closely related field. Priority will be given to a candidate who specializes in early modern philosophy, with significant expertise in the history and philosophy of science, ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, and Chinese philosophy. Job duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in philosophy, conducting research in early modern philosophy, and advising undergraduate and graduate students. The expected academic base salary range for this position is: $101,000-$138,000. The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate - e.g., years in rank, training, field, discipline, other work experience, and other similar factors; geographic location; internal equity; external market conditions; and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.
