Department of Statistics Description:
We invite applications for a one-year faculty visiting position in statistics at Colby College to begin Fall 2026. The department offers a major and minor in statistics, as well as a major and minor in data science (jointly with mathematics and computer science). Colby is committed to several interdisciplinary programs related to statistics, including the Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence ( https://davisinstituteai.colby.edu/ ) and the newly announced McVey Center for Computational and Data Sciences ( https://news.colby.edu/story/gift-establishes-mcvey-center-for-computational-and-data-sciences/ ) . The successful candidate will join a standalone department of five statisticians. A Master's degree or higher in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field by the time of employment is required. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching statistics to undergraduates at all levels, and also contribute to the research life of the department. The teaching responsibility for this position is five courses per year.
