Metro State University, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, is seeking to hire an Assistant/Associate Professor of Management Information Systems. This is a full-time fixed-term position within the Department of Management Information Systems and will start on August 17, 2026. The Department of Management Information Systems at Metropolitan State is the leader in MIS education in the region and is positioned to help prepare students for the future of Information Technology (IT).Responsibilities:
Faculty members are expected to: Demonstrate ability to teach a variety of Management Information Systems courses effectively (e.g., Fundamentals of Information Technology in Organizations, Principles of Management Information Systems, and Business Intelligence and Analytics) at the undergraduate level. Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement. Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study. Contribute to student growth and development through engagement in service to the department and college. Demonstrate a commitment to serving a culturally diverse student body through delivering a student-centered education and possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Deliver courses via multiple formats, times, and locations, including classroom and online, daytime and/or evening, and at multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities area.Minimum Qualifications:
Terminal degree (Ph.D. or DBA) in MIS, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Advanced ABD students will be considered with the degree conferred before July 1, 2026. Demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching MIS-related courses at the university level, with a record of excellence. Record of active involvement and excellence in scholarly work. Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups. Demonstrated ability and/or willingness to work in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse community of employees and students. Excellent reputation working with students and providing trusted guidance to young adults. Prior experience in student advising. Candidate must be eligible to work in the US.Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to the candidates who live or are willing to relocate to Minnesota and teach face-to-face courses. However, we are flexible on the issue. Completed doctoral degree from an accredited institution Specialization in MIS, or a closely related field, is preferred. Practical, applied non-teaching working experience in the fields of MIS and general business. Minimum of one year of teaching experience (or a minimum of 5 university-level sections) of MIS courses at the university level, with a record of excellence. Evidence of effective teaching in multiple areas of MIS, including Fundamentals of Information Technology in Organizations, Principles of Management Information Systems, and Business Intelligence and Analytics. Evidence of outstanding research or scholarly accomplishments Experience delivering courses in multiple formats including face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and fully online Experience with assessment/accreditation.Please note:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
