Position Summary Information Responsibilities Delta State University's School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of History to start in August 2026. Teaching responsibilities (4-4 load) will include undergraduate and graduate history courses, with half of the load being in the world history surveys (HIS 103 and 104) for general education. The successful applicant will teach upper-level and graduate courses in world history that support the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies programs. Position responsibilities also include advising, mentoring students, and developing new curriculum strategies. The successful applicant will also fulfill scholarship obligations including publications and conference presentations; provide service to the school, college, university, and profession; actively engage with committee work at the school, college, and university levels; and exhibit collegiality across all facets of participation in university culture. Qualifications Ph.D. in History by the start of employment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in History. Preferred Qualifications Two years of teaching experience with an emphasis in world history.
