Job Description

The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in the College of Education and Human Development is accepting applications for an Clinical Assistant Professor ( non tenure-track). Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the HPER curriculum. This may include a variety of instructional methods such as in-person, hybrid, online, or any combination thereof. Develop and enhance HPER programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring alignment with current educational standards and best practices. Coordinate K-12 teacher credential programs in HPER, including oversight of curriculum development and student teaching experiences. Engage in and publish research, scholarly, and creative activities in your area of expertise that will contribute to the academic field and enhance the institution's reputation. Pursue and sustain external funding through grants and partnerships to support research, program development, and student opportunities. Supervise and collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students on research projects, including oversee graduate projects and theses. Perform other duties as assigned. Current Mississippi State Department of Education license for Health or Physical Education. Ph.D. or Ed.

D. in Health and Physical Education or a closely related field. In-depth knowledge and experience with national health and physical education standards and assessments.
Preferred:
Experience teaching at the K-12 level; teaching relevant courses at the undergraduate level is highly desirable. Experience working with diverse populations. Strong track record or potential for interdisciplinary research. A demonstrated ability to secure external funding and publish in relevant academic fields. A demonstrated commitment to promoting equity and access in higher education.
