Job Description

The Department of Speech Communication and Theatre is accepting applications for its Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre. The successful candidate will be expected to continue to produce creative work while teach a 12-credit hour course load per semester. Directing one mainstage production/musical per academic year. Courses may include, but are not limited to, the areas of theatre appreciation, acting, creative dramatics, survey of Black theatre. Mentor students and assist with their academic and creative projects. Provide supervision for departmental projects, which may require flexible hours. Attend faculty and departmental meetings. Engage in additional duties tailored to the candidate's strengths and departmental needs. Master's degree in theater or a related field required; MFA in Acting preferred. Professional performing and/or directing experience and prior university teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated college-level teaching experience in acting or related theatre courses.
