School of Business Summary Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning in Economics Administration courses. Duties Teaching responsibilities consist of 12 credit hours per semester comprising of lectures and labs. Primary responsibility will be development and instruction of undergraduate and graduate Economics courses. Should be able to teach in two or more fields such as Marketing. Develops coursework, syllabi, and maintain materials, and supplies for the classes assigned. Advises and mentors students in various capacities including major and minor degree plans, career development, and student club and activities. Completes all administrative functions including submission of grades, trainings, assessments, and other processes and documents as required by the department and WNMU. Adapts courses to current technology applicable to the discipline and teaches online and/or televised courses as needed. Remains current with trends, techniques, and advances in educational methods. Conducts research or other scholarship activities suitable to a small, teaching university that accommodates the inclusion of undergraduate students. Provides professional contributions within areas of expertise as appropriate. Participates in departmental and University committees and special projects. Provides a broad range of administrative and supervisory functions. Supervises assigned staff in accordance with WNMU personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, guidance, etc. Participates in the process of ongoing personal and professional development. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external). Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy. Performs other duties as assigned. Education/Background Doctorate in Economics, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Quantitative Methods, or a closely related discipline with a major, minor, or concentration in the area(s) of teaching responsibility; or a doctorate in another discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Economics, Business, Analytics, Information Systems, or related fields. Candidates with an MBA, Master's degree in Economics, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field will also be considered if they possess significant professional experience and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Preferred qualifications include successful college-level teaching experience; professional experience in business management, strategic planning, business analytics, business intelligence, data analytics, consulting, or related fields; evidence of scholarly, applied, or professional contributions; and experience using data-driven decision-making, performance measurement, and quantitative analysis to support organizational effectiveness. ABD candidates nearing completion of a terminal degree will be considered. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Job Knowledge Ability and willingness to adapt courses to current technology applicable to the discipline and teach online and/or televised courses. Must have the qualifications to teach other discipline or content areas such as Management, Accounting or Marketing. Experience teaching web-based courses. Experience in research, publications, and securing grants. Experience serving on university committees or related community organizations. Participation in state or national professional organizations. Must be able to adapt to instructional needs of the department depending on circumstances. Must be knowledgeable of university policies and procedures. Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the University and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications. Working Conditions/ Physical Demands (With or Without Accommodations) Normal office, may travel some within the community when needed. May be required to transport normal office equipment and materials. Ability to comprehend and work with a variety of information from various sources. Able to clearly communicate with a diverse population of individuals. Ability to compose correspondence and reports and remain in a sedentary position for prolonged periods of time.
