  • The Department of Economics at the University of Rochester seeks a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction in Economics, in Fall 2026.
The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching the Economic Way of Thinking to endow our students with the ability to apply the tools of economics to a wide variety of settings. The candidate is expected to teach all levels of economics, from introductory courses to specialized electives. This is a renewable, non-tenure-track position.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Teach six courses per academic year, including two sessions of Principles of Economics and two sessions of Intermediate Microeconomics. + Contribute to curriculum development, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and experiential learning. + Engage in improvement of course objectives and materials. + Advise, mentor, and support students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. + Participate in outreach and recruiting events. + Serve on departmental and college committees as necessary in consultation with the Department Chair.
Salary range:
$115,000 - $135,000. The referenced pay represents the full base range of pay for this job. Individual salaries will be determined by the job's salary range and established based on market data, and experience and expertise of the candidate.   • Qualifications
  • + PhD in Economics or a closely related field is required. + Native or near-native proficiency in English. + Prior experience teaching Principles of Economics and/or Intermediate Microeconomics to classes of 50 or more students. + Demonstrated excellence in teaching, supported by student evaluations or other evidence. + Familiarity with current trends and pedagogy.
