  • The Department of Radiation Oncology at URMC is a leader in clinical care, research, and education, operating eight treatment sites and treating approximately 3,000 new radiation cases annually.
The department maintains a robust research portfolio spanning basic, translational, and clinical science, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities, strong institutional infrastructure, and integration with the Wilmot Cancer Institute
  • Position Description
  • The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is currently seeking multiple outstanding
  • MD (or Equivalent) Radiation Oncologists
  • for full‑time faculty positions at the
  • Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
  • level. These positions are for full-time, non-tenure accruing positions. The positions are primarily focused on
  • clinical care and clinical trial enrollment
  • , with opportunities to participate in education, quality improvement, collaborative clinical research, and/or leadership within the Wilmot Cancer Institute or Department of Radiation Oncology as appropriate.
The successful candidate will join a collegial, multidisciplinary environment that values compassionate patient care, clinical excellence, and innovation. Faculty members provide care across URMC's network of eight radiation oncology sites, supported by advanced technology, strong physics and dosimetry teams, and disease‑site-specific tumor boards. The successful candidate will be expected to develop disease site expertise and contribute to clinical trial enrollment.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered radiation oncology care, including consultation, treatment planning, on‑treatment management, and follow‑up.
+ Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborate closely with medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiology, pathology, and supportive care teams. + Contribute to clinical program development, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental safety efforts. + Engage in teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. + Participate in clinical research or clinical trials as appropriate to interests and experience. + Provide coverage at URMC regional sites as needed.
  • Qualifications
  • Required:
  • + MD or MD/PhD degree. + Board certification or eligibility in Radiation Oncology. + Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of New York. + Demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical care and patient communication. + Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. + A post-offer health assessment and criminal background check.
  • Preferred:
  • + Experience or interest in a specific disease‑site focus (e.g., head and neck, CNS, thoracic, GI, GU, breast, lymphoma). + Prior involvement in clinical trials, clinical research, or quality improvement. + Experience teaching or mentoring trainees. + Interest in program development or leadership roles.

Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
