Feb 20, 2026 Description The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, ( https://me.lafayette.edu ), invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position beginning in August 2026. This is a full-time two-year position, with continuation into the second year contingent upon a successful performance review. Lafayette is an undergraduate-only institution, and the Mechanical Engineering Department features small class sizes, hands-on laboratory experiences in each year of the curriculum, and five to six student-selected year-long capstone design projects annually. The Department seeks dynamic, inclusive teachers, who are interested in offering hands-on courses. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The Department offers professional development support through class observations and mentorship. Lafayette College also supports our visiting faculty members through the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education and a year-long orientation and development program, organized by our Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (CITLS). Visiting faculty members are offered funding for travel to a professional conference and for research students through our EXCEL Scholars program. Lafayette College is located in the Lehigh Valley, within 70 miles of both New York City and Philadelphia and is a small, highly selective undergraduate institution emphasizing superior education in engineering and the liberal arts. Lafayette has offered engineering programs for over 150 years. Since inception, the programs have emphasized close interaction between students and faculty. The engineering program is ranked in the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report among undergraduate-focused institutions.
