The individual will teach a range of courses in the areas of pre-production, production, and post-production; advise film majors; engage in scholarly and/or creative work; and participate in department, college, and community service in manners appropriate to the position. Ability to collaborate across departmental subdisciplines in both teaching and creative work preferred. Essential Duties Teach upper-level courses in cinematography and lighting, editing and sound mixing, and—based on area of specialization—either advanced narrative film production or advanced documentary film production. Additional teaching responsibilities may include other courses offered within the Film Studies Program. Advise students majoring in Film. Direct production-based honors projects or capstone projects. Engage in scholarly and/or creative work. Participate in department, college, and community service. Occasional Duties Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Ability to teach film courses from the 100-level to 400-level. Ability to continue creative work. Ability to coordinate and/or participate in the full range of activities of a film program. Must have knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Must possess the ability to work well with students and colleagues. Must the possess ability to mentor students in their creative work.
Required Qualifications Education:
MFA in Film and/or Media Production, conferred by July 1, 2026. PhD with relevant film production experience will also be considered.
Experience:
E xperience in either narrative or documentary filmmaking. Preferred Qualifications Training and experience in one of the following: screenwriting, color grading, VFX work. Willingness to serve in a faculty leadership role as part of college-wide shared governance following the awarding of tenure. Experience working with non-traditional students and a diverse student population. Environmental Conditions Varies by course. Includes smart classrooms, MAC computer labs, and the campus Multi-Media Production Studio (soundstage).
