Assistant Professor of Sociology (Tenure Track) Rhode Island College

Required Qualifications Education:
Ph.D. in Sociology by time of appointment.Experience:
Previous college-level teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to teach core courses in sociology, justice studies, and/or aging studies, including introductory courses, research methods, and/or classical and/or contemporary theory and/or theories of crime. Ability to teach a variety of courses across the current sociology and justice studies curricula and to complement current faculty expertise. A quantitative background is particularly desirable. Ability to teach graduate courses and supervise quantitative and/or criminal justice-related MA student research. Interest in and experience with active and experiential learning pedagogies. Experience working with and mentoring a diverse student population. Interest in contributing to interdisciplinary programs at the College, including the First-Year Seminar program. Willingness to adopt a leadership role. Interest in contributing to new Spanish bilingual RI court interpreter pipeline program. Environmental Conditions Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting, with the possibly of occasional online courses. Position Details FLSA Exempt Full Time / Part Time Full-time Proposed Compensation Assistant Professor- $66,569.93 May be eligible for additional compensation based on prior collegiate level or industry specific experience.
