A spring semester start date of January 11, 2027 will also be considered. Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will: Teach undergraduate chemistry courses, including General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and associated laboratory courses. Develop and delivery engaging instructions in both traditional and online learning environments as needed. Oversee laboratory preparation, safety and instructional support for chemistry courses. Maintain a standard teaching load of 12 contact hours per semester. Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students. Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program involving students that will lead to original, peer-reviewed publications. Participate actively in university service, including committee work, curriculum development and campus initiatives. Contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement and academic excellence. USCB offers a minor in Chemistry, and the selected candidate would teach existing classes and develop new courses to support the minor. Required Education and Experience An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemistry by the beginning date of employment. A minimum of one academic year of full-time university-level teaching experience as instructor of record by the time of appointment. Demonstrated excellence and commitment to undergraduate teaching. Experience teaching or the ability to teach general, analytical, and organic chemistry, including associated laboratory courses and laboratory setup. Strong communication skills and a commitment to student engagement and success. Preferred Qualifications Successful university-level teaching experience as instructor of record. Experience teaching in multiple instructional modalities, including online learning environments. Evidence of scholarly productivity and professional engagement. A collaborative approach to faculty service and student mentorship. Research that focuses on marine, environmental, physical and other applied aspects. Desired Start Date:
