Assistant Professor Of Practice Job Posting Number:
2026081NTL Position Description The Department of Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position beginning Fall 2026. We are interested in applicants who have practical experience in business information systems security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics with the potential to contribute to the department's research agenda by publishing journal articles, collaborating with faculty, supervising students, creating connections with industry and/or state/federal organizations, and bringing applied research opportunities. Practical experience includes experience in industry/non-profit, research centers, or government organizations. The selected applicant should be able to teach and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in business information system security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics with emphasis on applying quantitative methods to solve business information systems security problems. Additional job duties include service at the department, college, university, and professional levels. The ISA Department offers a university-wide undergraduate minor in Data Analytics and offers several degree programs, including the Master of Science in Data Analytics and Information Systems (MSDAIS), the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Information Systems, and a newly launched BBA in Business Analytics. MSDAIS has concentrations in supply chain analytics and Applied AI. Additionally, the department contributes to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programs. The McCoy College of Business provides student-centered undergraduate and master's programs that produce graduates with the skills and experience to compete responsibly, professionally, and successfully in dynamic global environments. Required Qualifications Candidates must have an earned Ph.D., D.B.A or be ABD from an internationally accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. ABD candidates are expected to successfully defend their dissertation by the date of hire. Candidates must be able to meet the AACSB Scholarly Academics qualifications required by the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. Candidates must possess practical, professional experience in the areas of business information systems security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics. Preferred Qualifications Evidence of effective teaching information security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics courses at the undergraduate level in college. Experience in teaching information security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics at graduate college level. Industry/business consulting experience in computer networking, information security, or networking/security analytics. Earned or anticipated Ph.D. degree from an AACSB accredited business school with a focus related to business information system security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics. Evidence of effective teaching online, hybrid, or face-to-face courses. Track record/potential for publications in peer-reviewed journals.
