Apply Now University of Pennsylvania, Department of South Asia Studies, seeks an Assistant Professor (Philadelphia, PA), to teach four courses per year, three at the undergraduate level and one at the graduate level, including courses that engage in questions of hierarchy, inequality, and/or exclusion as it relates to caste, indigeneity, religious discrimination, or other forms of marginalization practiced in modern South Asia. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and supervise undergraduate, MA, and PhD theses and dissertations. Advance an active research agenda by publishing articles and books, participate in conferences and workshops, and engage actively in regular field research in South Asia. Engage in interdisciplinary dialogue both within the Department of South Asia Studies and with allied departments, centers, and programs across the wider university.
REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent in History, Anthropology, South Asian History/Studies, or related field. Must have an established record in research and teaching. At least 10% international travel to South Asia may be required as needed for research.
