Essential Function 1: Provide effective instruction for the Agroforestry program Teaching at least 15 credits per semester which typically include three science courses with weekly labs, Prepare course syllabi, Provide assessment of course both summative and formative assessment, Prepare labs and Organize field trips aligned to program and course requirements Create Moodle shell of assigned courses in consultation with Learning Designer Schedule weekly office hours Essential Function 2: Advising students not limited to registration periods. Ensure students meet all the requirements of the program including the pre-requisites, Provide academic advising to students on the appropriate courses to take and pathway to follow, Participate in recruitment activities into the program. Essential Function 3: Assist in promoting program processes that are related to College goals Participate in academic Advising for students in preparation for College Conduct SLO Assessment for courses taught Provide extra tutoring and guidance for at risk students Participate in the Department Program Review process in alignment to College strategic goals Participate in New Student Orientation to ensure that students understand the Program Mission and Goals. Essential Function 4: Participate in on-going Professional Development and collaboration with external partnership Participates in professional development as appropriate to the position organized internally and externally Participate in Advisory Committee Meetings to integrate employer needs into the curriculum Collaborate with public and private sector for internship opportunities for studentsRequired Qualification:
Master's Degree in Agroforestry or related field. College-level teaching experience or more than 5 years experience in teaching.Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Agroforestry or related field Experience teaching at a community college. Curriculum development experience.Essential Duties:
Essential Function 1: Develop the curriculum for the Agroforestry Certificate- Develop the course and program outlines for a 15-credit agroforestry certificate that includes both theoretical and laboratory work and uses a clock-hour, rather than a credit-hour, formula.
- Follow the CMI process for curriculum approval.
- Consult with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Commerce (MoNRC), the US Forestry Service, The Pacific Community ( SPC ), and other regional development partners as part of the coursework development process.
- Secure a minimum of three employer representatives to serve as an advisory council for the certificate in curricular and related matters.
- Integrate an internship into the curriculum to allow students to gain work experience. Essential Function 2: Set up and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Follow College purchasing processes to ensure that all needed equipment is purchased.
- Ensure equipment is maintained for safety and functionality. Essential Function 3: Teach courses in the Agroforesty Certificate program.
- Upon completion of initial curriculum development, teaching will become the primary role.
- Teach 25 contact hours per week.
- Schedule a minimum of five open office hours per week.
- Teach according to approved outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and student learning outcomes. Essential Function 4: Participate in assessment.
- Assess student learning outcomes at the course level.
- Complete quarterly progress reports for grant-reporting purposes.
- Participate in program review following the CMI cycle.
