Position Number F0029A Job Description The School of Public Service in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a visiting assistant professor position in public administration. The position begins July 2026 . This is a full-time, non-tenure-track one-year term position with a 4-4 teaching load for the 2026-Fall/Spring semesters. The School of Public Service houses a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, a doctoral program in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public procurement and contract management, and a minor in public service. We welcome applicants with an emerging research record or clearly defined research agenda in public administration. The candidate will help meet teaching needs in both the MPA and PhD programs. Courses may include; Introduction to Public Administration. Research Methods. Human Resources Management. Leadership and electives in Nonprofit Management and Governance. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications Ph.D. degree in Public Administration or related field by May 2026. Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities Research trajectory sufficient to ensure graduate certification status to teach in the doctoral program. Ability to teach courses in the MPA and PhD in Public Administration and Policy programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching a diverse student population Experience teaching online courses. Emerging research record/agenda in public administration.
