Job Description

Assistant or Associate Professor of Church Ministries (Half-Time) College of Ministry - Northwest University (Tenure Track - 9-Month .5 FTE) Northwest University seeks a half-time faculty member in Church Ministries with strong practical ministry experience and a passion for preparing students for effective service in the local church and varied ministry contexts. The ideal candidate will be a ministry practitioner who brings energy, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to student learning and spiritual formation. The successful candidate will demonstrate particular strength in ministry education and formation , with additional area(s) of expertise that may include intercultural studies, youth ministry, children's ministry, and/or other ministry fields . The faculty member will teach ministry courses across the curriculum and, as needed, may also contribute to instruction in University core curriculum courses in Bible and/or Theology. Applicants must demonstrate a meaningful commitment to Jesus Christ, the Church, and the gospel, and embody a winsome, encouraging, and culturally engaged faith. Primary Responsibilities Teach courses across the Church Ministries and related ministry programs, appropriate to a half-time responsibility. Serve as an effective mentor and academic advisor for students in majors connected to the faculty member's area(s) of expertise, and provide program leadership in those area(s). Collaborate with the COM Dean on relevant curricular development and program assessment. Contribute to University core curriculum courses in Bible and/or Theology as needed. Develop new courses as needed. Participate in appropriate departmental and university service consistent with half-time responsibilities. Engage in ongoing professional development and, as appropriate, scholarship related to teaching and ministry practice. Position Qualifications Master's or doctoral degree in Ministry or a closely related field. Brings experience and credibility from leading and serving in the local church. Demonstrated experience and skill ministry leadership. Demonstrated administrative skill and experience. Undergraduate-level teaching experience with evidence of effective instruction, advising, and mentoring (preferred) Collegial spirit and ability to collaborate within a faith-based academic community Strong commitment to teaching excellence and student formation. A vibrant, demonstrated Christian faith. Holds credentials with the Assemblies of God or is willing and able to pursue credentialing. Willingness to integrate a Christian worldview into teaching, mentoring, and ministry leadership.
