Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU)was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medicallyunderserved areas of the Pacific Northwest. The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctorof Physical Therapy, Doctor of Dental Medicine, Master of Biomedical Sciences, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over550 students annually. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. Thecampus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five-state region. PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city ofapproximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agriculturaland outdoor recreation region. General Summary:
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) invites applications forAssistant/Associate/Professor of Anatomy in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). The Assistant/Associate/Professor willprovide support to the Department of Anatomy and will be expected to fulfill the educational, service, and scholarly activity objectives ofthe COM, and to work collaboratively with other university programs as assigned. This position reports directly to the Chair ofAnatomy. The Anatomy Department at PNWU is a vibrant group of six full-time and three part-time faculty who work collaborativelyamong themselves and with all other departments in the COM preclinical curriculum, the Master of Biomedical Sciences program, the School ofPhysical Therapy and the school of Dental Medicine. The main teaching responsibilities of the department include human gross anatomy andneuroanatomy with cadaver dissection courses, and histology and embryology in systems courses. The faculty within the Department of Anatomyengage in diverse scholarly activities, including bench research, clinical studies, and educational research.
Essential Job Functions:
This is an on-campus position, not eligible for hybrid or distance jobfunctions. Lecture and laboratory instruction in some combination of histology, embryology, gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and othercurricular content as assigned and consistent with expertise. Involvement in curriculum development. Committee work andother service to the University. Development of assessments in areas of expertise. Research or other scholarlyactivity. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair. The ideal candidate should have a demonstratedinterest in teaching anatomy and related disciplines to osteopathic medicine and other health professions students. The candidate will be abroadly trained anatomist, able to deliver various aspects of the anatomical sciences curriculum through a variety of educational platforms.

Preference will be given to individuals with an interest in teaching embryology lectures, and histology lectures andlabs.
Requirements Education:
Required:
Earned Doctor of Philosophy degree orequivalent in an anatomical or closely related discipline (e.g., gross anatomy, neuroanatomy/neuroscience/neurobiology, developmentalbiology/embryology, cell biology, physiology). Applicants with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree froma COCA or LCME-accredited institution of higher learning (or equivalent) are encouraged to apply where teaching experience matches
PNWU'sneeds Experience:
Preference will be given to those with at least five years of teachingexperience in higher education, preferably in a health profession program Experience in teaching cell biological aspects ofhistology, advanced human anatomy with human cadaveric dissection, embryology, and neuroanatomy A demonstrated history of scholarlyachievements Excellent interpersonal communication, and pedagogical skills Ability to work cooperatively with faculty,staff, and students in a manner that evokes trust and respect

Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills;excellent presentation skills; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability toproblem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct workflow;ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases; and schedule activities and/or meetings.
