POSITION
Instructor of Communication Studies in an NCA award winning basic course program with a continuing appointment, nine-month position. Starting date will be September 1, 2026. Louisiana Tech University and the College of Liberal Arts, School of Communication offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with concentrations in communication studies or journalism and recently launched a Master of Arts in Communication program. This position includes the opportunity for the successful candidate to join a faculty engaged in developing and promoting this competitive communication program. This is an exciting opportunity for a new or seasoned instructor to be involved in the development of content and the implementation of highly effective pedagogy for the basic course taught to all first-year students as well as developing cross-campus opportunities to partner with other disciplines on communication issues.QUALIFICATIONS
Masters of Arts in Speech Communication, Communication Studies, or Organizational Communication required with prior full-time college/university teaching experience preferred. Candidates should demonstrate excellent teaching skills and a passion for first year undergraduate students and will be expected to maintain a program of scholarly activity. A demonstration of teaching effectiveness may be required as part of the interview process.SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach multiple sections ofCOMM 101
Principles of Communication Studies, which is a general education requirement (GER) for all first-year students. The course utilizes an interdisciplinary experience in basic human communication including interpersonal, small group, nonverbal, intercultural and public communication. Work together with fellow instructors ofCOMM 101
to develop best practices and creative content; partner with other departments on communication issues; drive first-time student success; see students grow by assisting students with communication skill application, including interpersonal and presentation skills; develop and present communication workshops/discussions for faculty and/or students; and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.THE UNIVERSITY
