POSITION SUMMARY
The Communication and Media Studies Department is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty positions in Communication on the RCU campus at various times. Classes are twice a week, and there is sometimes a Wednesday, once a week, for 3 hours. Adjunct contracts are less than part-time and made on a semester-by-semester basis, but often result in recurring assignments within a regular course rotation. Adjunct openings often occur on short notice as additional sections of classes open based on enrollment numbers. Applications are always welcome.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline. or a master's degree and at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline or a closely related discipline. Candidates with terminal degrees and other specialized training are also highly desired. Previous teaching experience is preferred; candidates willing to receive mentorship will be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the chair on the syllabus and curriculum situated within RCU learning goals. Effectively plan active learning assignments in multiple modalities for student engagement. Confidentially create and maintain appropriate educational records to document the academic performance of students. Fulfill adjunct duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. Stay current in departmental and university policies, procedures, and practices related to the classroom to provide accurate information and support to students. Promote an inclusive RCU and participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to the success of all students.
