commensurate with experience Position Summary STLCC is seeking an instructor for the Deaf Communication department for Fall 2026. This position will be located at the Florissant Valley campus. This position serves as faculty in their specific program(s) upon hire. Primary Duties Performed Developing and implementing lesson plans tailored to the needs and levels of their students Teaching students the fundamentals of sign language, including finger spelling, grammar, syntax, and vocabulary Instructing students on the cultural nuances of the deaf community to promote understanding and empathy Assessing students' progress and providing constructive feedback Setting and grading examinations to measure students' comprehension and proficiency Organizing and participating in sign language practice sessions, workshops, and other educational activities Keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in sign language interpretation Assisting students with developing effective interpreting skills, including listening, comprehension, and expressive skills Providing guidance on potential career paths for students interested in becoming professional sign language interpreters Qualifications/Experience A Bachelor's degree A number of years of experience will be considered. Interpreter certification at an Advanced or master's level is required.

A Master's degree is preferred.
