Adjunct Lecturer - Communication Studies (Multiple Positions) - Part Time
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
- "At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone's responsibility" Baruch College, located in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is a senior college in the City University of New York, with roughly 16,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students enrolled in three schools: the Lawrence Zicklin School of Business; the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences; and the Austin W.
- Teach undergraduate courses in basic public speaking, business communication (with a writing focus) or advanced public speaking in applied business contexts
- Provide detailed and timely feedback to students on weekly speeches and/or written assignments
- Adhere to a shared set of assignments, rubrics, and curricula across all sections of the course
- Hold office hours weekly
- Complete required administrative tasks, including verifying enrollment rosters, submitting syllabi to the department for approval and records, entering final grades, and completing any necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
- Complying with all relevant department, college and CUNY policies.
- Completing required ESPARC and WVP training each academic year
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
M.A or PhD in communication studies, rhetoric and composition, or a related field strongly preferred. Applicants with a Masters in an unrelated field who have college-level teaching experience and/or extensive professional experience in business contexts may be considered. College-level classroom teaching experience or comparable training/development experience required. Experience teaching public speaking, business writing, technical writing, and advanced public speaking strongly preferred. Particularly of interest is experience with and pedagogical training in large-lecture format classes with enrollments above 70 students. Candidates must be able to follow a shared curriculum carefully and accurately and must be available to teach in-person sections on Baruch's campus in Grammercy Park.COMPENSATION
