Job Description:
Responsibilities Specialist Responsibilities include a focus on the specialist area (public speaking, visual rhetoric, or professional writing) to: Develop and conduct classroom and Studio workshops. Develop resources for teaching and learning. Assist the directors with and participate in ongoing staff and faculty development. Consult with students and faculty on academic and professional projects. Mentor undergraduate and graduate peer writing and speaking consultants to develop their knowledge and practice. Support Studio operations. Opportunities for leadership, scholarship, and professional development are available. Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold or be actively pursuing a master's degree or higher in Composition Studies, Communication Studies, or a related field within their area of communication specialization. 2+ years working in a writing or communication center with mentorship responsibilities and/or experience consulting with graduate students. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a writing/communication center using a peer-tutoring model. Experience teaching writing or teaching public speaking. Experience collaborating with faculty or supporting faculty development. Evening and weekend availability. Additional Information This is a pooled position, applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis to fill current and future openings as they become available. Salary Salary:
$33 per hour
Work Schedule Days/Hours:
8 - 16 hours per week during FIT Writing and Speaking Studio hours of operation; in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
