Job Description

Job Title Journalism and Strategic Media (Advertising and Public Relations), Adjunct Faculty Department Journalism and Strategic Media University Expectation MTSU seeks candidates committed to innovative teaching and meaningful service. We also seek to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty who value working with diverse students. Salary The University will compensate adjuncts at a flat rate of $800 per number of credits (adjusted credit hours) granted toward the faculty load. Job Summary/Basic Function The School of Journalism & Strategic Media at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for an adjunct instructor position to teach advertising and public relations. Course topics may include media buying, strategic writing, and/or introductory courses (in-person, online, or both). This is a part-time position and does not include benefits. Classes begin on August 24, 2026, and will end on December 10, 2026. Required Education A master's degree in advertising, public relations, strategic communication, journalism, mass communication, or a communication or media-related field is required. A bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of a master's degree. Other Desirables Applicants with experience in teaching at the college level, an industry background, and agency experience will receive special consideration.
