Computer Science The Department of Computer Science at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach CS 310: Social Issues and Professional Practices in Computing Lecture. Course Description Examines the larger societal context of computing to develop an understanding of the relevant social, ethical, legal and professional issues. Covers social context, professional ethics, intellectual property, privacy, professional communication, safety, reliability, and sustainability. Exposes students to different areas within computer science while developing technology solutions to undesirable effects of computing technology and the internet.Minimum qualifications:
A master's degree or 4 years of relevant professional experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.Preferred qualifications:
A doctorate or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and related fields Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary commensurate with degree level and experienceAnticipated Hiring Salary Range:
$5,507- $8,000 per full-time month The salary schedule information for the Lecturer

$5,507- $6,677 per full-time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B
AY:
$6,221- $13,224 per full-time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
