Description We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Part-Time Computer Science Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator with a strong background in computer science who can engage and inspire students across multiple levels. This position includes teaching Foundations of Computer Science, Advanced Placement Computer Science, and Cybersecurity , helping students develop computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and ethical awareness in the digital world. The teacher will foster both technical proficiency and responsible digital citizenship while preparing students for college-level coursework and careers in technology. Primary Responsibilities Teach a range of computer science courses, including Foundations of Computer Science, AP Computer Science, and Cybersecurity. Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in programming, algorithms, data structures, networking, and cybersecurity principles. Prepare students for the AP Computer Science Exam through rigorous instruction and practice assessments. Introduce students to programming languages such as Python and/or Java. Teach cybersecurity fundamentals, including digital safety, encryption basics, ethical hacking concepts, and network security. Foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration through project-based learning and real-world applications. Encourage students to explore careers in technology, computer science, and cybersecurity fields. Assess student progress through projects, coding assignments, tests, and presentations, and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain an organized and effective classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles. Integrate cross-curricular and interdisciplinary approaches where appropriate (e.g., math, engineering, ethics). Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in computer science education. Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school events and STEM-related extracurricular activities.Other Responsibilities:
Additional duties as assigned and approved by the Mathematics and Technology Department Chairperson and the Administration.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Computer Science or related field (preferred but not required). Experience teaching high school-level computer science or related subjects (preferred). Familiarity with AP Computer Science curriculum and standards (preferred). Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and cybersecurity concepts. Ability to teach a range of learners from introductory to advanced levels. Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
