Function of Position:
Adjunct faculty prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned for the Brighton Campus, or in an online, remote, or hybrid modality, as needed. Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson of the Information and Computer Technologies Department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals. Course topics may include object-oriented programming with Java and C++, as well as Python, C, or assembly language. Courses relating to digital systems, sensor-based data acquisition, basic robotics, and other computer systems or computer science topics may be included in this adjunct faculty member's responsibilities.Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and maintains current subject knowledge. Teaches courses and evaluates student performance in Information and Computer Technologies as per guidelines set by the department and Monroe Community College. Teaches course(s)/section(s) each term, as outlined by the contract and as available. Prepares lesson plans and creates instructional materials and activities for student engagement. Prepares Course Information Sheet/Syllabus/Outlines in accordance with department and College guidelines. Establishes and maintains an engaging and supportive classroom environment. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other records according to department and College guidelines and submits them in a timely manner. Assists department with student retention and completion initiatives. Develops innovative teaching pedagogy to facilitate learning. Incorporates high impact teaching practices into course design, as appropriate. Actively engages in pedagogical and academic discipline professional development. Demonstrates excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task. Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair, as appropriate.MCC Expectations:

Required Qualifications:
Earned bachelor's degree in an Information and Computer Technology/Computer Science (or related field) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution. Teaching/training experience (secondary, higher education, adult) in computer systems, computer science, or related fields or at least 5 years of relevant industry experience. Proficiency in a contemporary programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python) as evidenced by academic preparation or professional experience. Evidence of effective communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, and writing). Commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus. Evidence of ongoing professional growth and continuous learning.Preferred Qualifications:
Earned master's degree in an Information and Computer Technology/Computer Science (or related field) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution. Ability to teach hardware-focused courses and guide students in a face-to-face lab environment. Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies. Experience teaching web-enhanced or fully online courses. In-person availability and ability to teach hardware-focused courses and guide students in a face-to-face lab environment. Experience teaching using a learning management system such as Brightspace/D2L, BlackBoard, Canvas, or Moodle. Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.Additional Information:
Pay Rate for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,217- $1,484 per contact hour.Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State:
