The graduate programs offered are Criminology and Criminal Justice (M.S.), Intelligence and National Security Studies (M.S.) and an online Master of Defense and Strategic Studies (MDSS). El Paso's active arts and culture community features the state's longest-running symphony orchestra, a nationally recognized chamber music festival, a vibrant street art and mural scene, art galleries, museums, and a full schedule of seasonal events and festivals. UTEP adds to the arts and entertainment scene with concerts and live events at the city's largest indoor and outdoor venues; theater, music and dance productions; contemporary and student art galleries; and a natural history museum and desert gardens. The Department of Criminal Justice and Security Studies is seeking a Department Chair at the rank of Full Professor with an outstanding record of scholarly research and grants as well as experience in strategic planning, program-building initiatives, and faculty mentoring. We seek a leader with management and analytical skills, as well as a strategic planner committed to consolidating the national reputation of the department and its robust programs. The Department Chair will support the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff, advocate for a strategic vision for the undergraduate and graduate programs and foster an environment of inclusive excellence for students.Requirements:
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Political Science, or closely related field. Applicants with a J.D., Psy.D., or Ed.
D. (without a Ph.D.) will not be considered. Rank of Full Professor. Administrative or leadership experience at the Department and College/University levels. Funded extramural grants and an active scholarly publication record commensurate with a Full Professor at a Carnegie R1 institution.
