Position Details Department College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Reports To Dean, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Appointment Fall 2026 Close Date Open Until Filled Classification Faculty, Full-Time (Tenure Track) Position Summary Northwest University is seeking a Full-time (12-month), tenure-track faculty member within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences whose main responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the CMHC program. This includes but is not limited to: overseeing CACREP accreditation requirements, ensuring that program curriculum is in alignment with CACREP standards, providing oversight of student progress, remediation, and retention, and providing direction for CMHC program faculty and staff. Responsibilities also include teaching graduate counseling courses (on-campus and online) primarily in Northwest University's Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health (CMHC) program and participating in the life of the university through committee and other service work. full-time tenure track position. Contract renewal contingent on performance. Qualifications Has an earned Ph.D., Ed.
D., in Counseling Education preferably from a CACREP accredited program; Possesses a deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ, a Spirit-filled life, and demonstrates integration of faith and learning; Is licensed as a LMHC in Washington State (or is license eligible in Washington State); Has had successful teaching experience at the university level; Has preferred experiences with program leadership and administration; Has knowledge about state licensure standards for LMHC; Is knowledgeable about CACREP standards (preferred); Is committed to establishing and maintaining positive mentoring relationships with a diverse student body; Is committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with faculty, staff, and the general constituency of Northwest University; Is committed to intercultural education and multicultural counseling and is committed to integrating faith into the counseling curriculum; Is committed to the development of skills in his/her students by coaching, modeling, and direct instruction; Is committed to the values of NU and the CSBS vision; Demonstrates commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination. Communicates effectively, gets along well with co-workers, and deals effectively and professionally with colleagues; and Has a clear counseling identity as evidenced by memberships in professional counseling organizations; professional counseling credentials and sustained professional engagement. Compensation Dependent on education and experience and based upon the established faculty salary schedule starting at the respective professor rank. Northwest University's doctoral program in counseling psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Selected programs of study are approved by a Washington State Approving Agency for enrollment of those eligible for benefits under Title 38 and Title 10, U.S. Code and by Washington State for training in Vocational Rehabilitation.
