availability to attend an 8- business day Orientation from 8a-4pwithout interruptions. The Education Coordinator supports the daily operations of the school by combining administrative, clerical, and instructional responsibilities. This role serves as a key liaison between school staff, district personnel (Birmingham City Schools), and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), ensuring timely communication, compliance, and accurate recordkeeping. In addition to office coordination duties, the Educational Coordinator provides direct academic support to students through tutoring, intervention, and classroom assistance, helping to meet individual learning needs and support educational goals. Hill Crest Behavioral Health Servicesis a robust, free-standing psychiatric hospital offering dedicated services to adolescents and adults from the surrounding Birmingham community. With an average census of 150 patients, Hill Crest features acute inpatient, residential, and group home settings. Instructional Support Provide classroom and/or pull-out instruction to support student learning
Deliver tutoring and intervention services aligned with student needs
Assistteachers with classroom accommodations and modifications
Support implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, and individualized learning strategies
Collaborate with teachersandadministrators,to address student needs
Participate as a member of the Student Support/SET team 20% 2. Liaison & Communication Serve as the primary liaison between the school program and:
Birmingham City Schools (LEA)
Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE)
InternalDepartments and Staff
Ensureaccurateandtimelycommunication of updates, requirements, and student information 20% 3. Administrative & Clerical Duties Prepare, compose, and distribute correspondence withappropriate follow-up
Answer phones, provide information, direct calls, and take messages
Schedule meetings, conferences, and school-related events
Develop meeting agendas, attend meetings, and record minutes
Maintain organized, confidential paper and electronic records
Manage student records in compliance with UHS and school procedures
Maintainaccuratedaily attendance records andmonitorPowerSchool data
Complete reports, forms, spreadsheets, and documentation using:
Microsoft Office Suite
Support efficient day-to-day school operations 20% 4. Records & Compliance Maintainaccuraterecords for:
Student evaluations
IEPs
504 Plans
Transition plans
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all educational and organizational policies
Monitor documentation requirements aligned with state and district mandates 20% 5. Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position: Prioritize and complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
