Qualifying Employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (potential loan forgiveness for federal Direct Loans after meeting repayment requirements and working full-time for an eligible employer) Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Instructional Services Coordinator. This position performs proficient, professional-level technical and analytical work in the science laboratories, supporting daily operations and related functions. This position serves as a subject-matter expert and provides program administration and consultation, including planning, developing, and implementing related functions, projects, and activities in the instructional area of life sciences. Essential Functions 35
- Oversees and provides leadership for the coordination, set-up, and maintenance for all laboratory needs and learning exercises and experiments, including maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies as well as developing operating policies, safety practices, and work standards for laboratory operations, including overseeing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. 20
- Performs project management, including operational planning, assists in the administration of budget, purchasing, problem resolution, and technical assistance for instructional programs, including, but not limited to, laboratory settings. 15
- Provides guidance, process support, and direction to Lab Technician Senior(s) and other laboratory staff. 10%
- Provides training and guidance in area of expertise; oversees the maintenance of files, records, program materials, and documentation 10
- Plans, organizes, assigns, and evaluates the work of staff; Participates in hiring, discipline, and termination activities when necessary. 10
- Collaborates and consults with program faculty and staff on lab design, effectiveness, quality, and outcomes, recommends modifications and additions to labs; other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of position.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area, and one (1) year of full-time equivalent program coordination experience. OR Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related program area, and three (3) years of full-time equivalent program coordination experience. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological science.
Experience with biology lab safety compliance regulations, including professional certifications.
Two (2) years of experience working in a physical or biological lab setting.
Experience with coordinating with staff and faculty on the technical and operational aspects of science labs
Experience with ordering and purchasing for a lab setting Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role.
Special Working Conditions Exposure to chemicals, fumes, particulates and organisms that may present health hazards if not handled according to safety protocols are possible. May require lifting objects up to 50 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation. May be required to work outdoors. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
