This role focuses on supporting best practices in instruction, adherence to standards, and effective implementation of district-adopted programs and resources, both core and supplemental. The K-12 Instructional Specialist will regularly review appropriate data sources to ensure that program implementation and adherence contribute to the district's student growth and performance goals. Beyond content expertise, this position provides leadership and oversight in instructional planning and professional growth initiatives across all disciplines, aligning with the district's instructional vision and commitment to excellence in education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The K-12 Instructional Specialist works closely with district leadership, school administrators, and teachers to elevate instructional practices and improve student achievement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Collaboration:
Serve as a liaison between district leadership, site administrators, and instructional staff to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Lead efforts to ensure fidelity in the implementation of district-adopted programs and instructional initiatives. Collaborate with other Instructional Specialists and departments to promote interdisciplinary teaching and learning strategies.
Professional Development:
Design, implement, and evaluate professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators. Mentor and support teachers in refining instructional practices through observations, coaching cycles, and feedback. Train educators in the use of instructional materials, state standards, and data-driven instructional practices.
Curriculum and Assessment:
Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula, including supplemental programs and intervention systems. Oversee the adoption and integration of textbooks, resources, and technology tools. Develop and analyze district-level assessments to inform instruction and drive continuous improvement.
Instructional Support:
Model effective teaching strategies and co-teach to support classroom instruction. Assist teachers and administrators in creating specialized programs or projects that align with district goals. Facilitate the integration of instruction with other content areas to enhance student engagement and achievement.
Program Oversight and Communication:
Communicate curriculum and instructional updates to staff, parents, and the community. Support district and school efforts to secure grant funding for instructional programs and resources. Maintain visibility across district campuses, working with diverse teams to promote academic excellence.
Other Responsibilities:
Stay current with instructional best practices, research, and trends in K-12 education and pedagogy. Represent the district in state and national conferences, committees, and initiatives related to education. Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective functioning of the district's instructional programs. Arizona Teaching Certificate Minimum of three (5) years of successful teaching experience Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, through the Arizona Department of Public Safety Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, instructional coaching, or professional development. Master's degree in education, content focus, curriculum, or a related field (preferred).
Demonstrates:
Strong understanding of Arizona State Standards, Principles, and district curricula and programs. In-depth knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices, and intervention models. Familiarity with instructional technology and innovative teaching tools. Proven ability to analyze data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes. Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire educators. Ability and willingness to work outside the traditional working hours of teachers, including evenings and weekends as needed.
