Job Description

The Educational Skills Specialist (ESS) is a vital member of the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) team. They provide holistic individual and group academic support to Meharry Medical College (MMC) students. The ESS facilitates one-on-one sessions covering topics including learning strategies, study skills, time management, planning, and motivation. The ESS designs, implements, and evaluates tailored programs, workshops, and initiatives to enhance critical thinking, retention, and academic performance. Assess the learning styles of students and develop individualized learning programs for academic and critical thinking improvement. Design and facilitate learning strategy workshops and programs that address the evolving needs of MMC students. Manage and assess Center data and analytics. Collect and record student assessment results. Maintain student profile data from individual skills sessions. Contribute to CASA's marketing, outreach, and promotional efforts to increase awareness, engagement, and impact across campus. Participate in various MMC committees, events, and projects related to student success, belonging, and retention. Attend student and faculty development sessions; support educational research efforts by gathering relevant data and reviewing current literature to inform projects undertaken in CASA. Assist the CASA team in the development of research projects undertaken within the Center. Lead and write departmental reports related to CASA academic activities. Attend educational development conferences on and off campus. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar or related position within an educational, medical or health-related setting is required
Education and Experience Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education administration, education, counseling, or related field preferred A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar or related position within an educational, medical or health-related setting is required
