QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree and Administrative Services Credential or Cert of Eligibility for Administrative Services credential or willing to obtain Administrative Services Credential within first year of employment Five years of experience in special education, including at least two years in a leadership role within special education Commitment to Los Alamitos Unified School District's mission, vision and goals. Passion for working with students; ability to motivate and support students and staff in reaching high levels of academic success. Outstanding skills in creativity, problem-solving and critical-thinking. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders. Knowledge of current tools and techniques utilized throughout the State to assess and monitor student performance. Strong computer and technology skills including the ability to communicate about how educational technology tools can be utilized to assist student learning. A results-oriented, goal driven, collaborative approach to work. Ability to be flexible and revise priorities in accordance with requirements of the Superintendent or designee. Ability to efficiently interpret, manage and utilize multiple sets of data to best support student progress. Ability to develop/implement educational innovations resulting from school/district designed needs assessments. Ability to be flexible and revise priorities in accordance with requirements of Superintendent/designee. Ability to interpret laws, rules, policies, practices and procedures related to the District and special education.
ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES
Provide developmentally appropriate district-wide special education leadership to school sites, administrators, case managers, and specialists serving students in preschool through adult transition programs. Attend and manage complex IEP meetings to support all team members Conduct and/or arrange formal and informal student assessment and participate in the development of students' individual programs and services. Conduct educationally related mental health assessments and make recommendations for appropriate mental health services for students with significant social-emotional and/or behavioral needs. Provide expert assistance & legal updates to administrators & special education staff relative to the legal interpretation of federal, state, & education code, laws & regulations regarding special education & assigned duties. Provide training for school staff in prevention and proactive pre-referral activities, educationally related mental health services, and behavioral support systems. Serve as key member of the District Crisis Response and Threat Assessment Teams. Assignment begins July 1, 2025 SALARY

Placement on
Administrative Salary Schedule:
$130,523-$146,621 (205 days per year, 12-month employee with a flexible work year that is approved by the District, must be available to work during portions of the summer) Generous Fringe Benefit Package including medical/dental/vision/life insurance/mileage for employee plus dependent coverage available
