Education About the position: Holocaust Museum LA is seeking an Art Education Coordinator to support the management and coordination of the Museum's Art and Memory programs. These initiatives use creative expression as a powerful entry point into Holocaust education, personal reflection, and contemporary dialogue. This role will help design and implement meaningful arts-based experiences that center memory, empathy, and critical thinking for students, educators, and community audiences. This position is ideal for someone who believes in the transformative role of the arts in education and is excited to help facilitate programs that connect historical content with creative exploration in thoughtful and impactful ways.
Key Responsibilities include:
Support the integration of Holocaust survivor and descendant perspectives into arts-based programs, helping to facilitate meaningful encounters between students and lived histories through dialogue and creative expression. Support the coordination and implementation of Art and Memory programs, including student programs, workshops, and interdisciplinary educational initiatives. Collaborate with staff, teachers, and teaching artists to ensure programs are delivered with care, intention, and alignment with the Museum's mission. Assist in preparing materials and experiences that encourage reflection, dialogue, and creative response to Holocaust history. Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, space planning, and communication with participants and partners. Help cultivate a welcoming, respectful, and emotionally supportive learning environment for all participants. Track participation, collect feedback, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement. Support outreach efforts to schools, educators, and community groups to expand access to arts-based programming. Assist in documenting programs and capturing impact stories for internal learning and external communication. Contribute to the development of new program ideas that integrate art, memory, and education in innovative ways. Occasional driving may be required as a part of job duties, beyond the standard commute, to support programming needs. Qualifications 2-4 years of experience in arts education, museum education, nonprofit programming, or a related field. Demonstrated interest in or commitment to arts-based learning and socially engaged education. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to working in emotionally complex subject areas. Ability to work collaboratively with artists, educators, and colleagues across departments. Thoughtful, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to program coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and virtual platforms. Valid California driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Background in education, history, visual arts, art history, arts education, or related field. Experience working with students. Familiarity with trauma-informed or reflective educational practices. Experience facilitating creative workshops. Physical Requirements This position requires prolonged periods of walking and standing with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
Working Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
Salary/Benefits:
The Art Education Coordinator position is a non-exempt position with an annual salary range of $52,000 - $55,000, based on experience and other qualifications. Generous paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and health benefits.
