Eligibility for health and welfare benefits is provided in accordance with the PVTA Collective Bargaining Length of Work Year 186 (prorated in accordance with FTE) Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary Under the direction of the School Principal and in consultation with the Director of Educational Services, the Design and Innovation Specialist serves as the primary facilitator of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Center. In this role, the specialist designs and delivers hands-on, standards-aligned activities for grades 4-6 that inspire students to create, build, and experiment with platforms like robotics, 3D design, and video production. Additionally, the specialist leads digital literacy and citizenship initiatives for grades 4-8 to ensure students are future-ready in a landscape shaped by rapidly evolving technology and AI. Minimum Qualifications Credential & Education Valid California Teaching Credential required Appropriate credentials may include: Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Single Subject Credential in Science, Industrial Arts, or Computer Science Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students Experience with STEAM, maker education, or project-based learning Familiarity with instructional technology tools and digital media Major Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with classroom teachers and the principal to plan enrichment activities relevant to classroom instruction in Math and Science. Teach students in the STEAM Center to inspire them to create, construct, build, and experiment. Use current technology and equipment, including robotics, video creation, 3D design/printing, and other design process tools. Integrate STEAM instruction with core standards to foster a sense of inquiry and discovery. Select, order, maintain an inventory, and organize materials and tools in the STEAM Center. Lead digital literacy initiatives for grades 4-8 to ensure students are future-ready and prepared for a landscape shaped by rapidly evolving technology and AI. Lead digital citizenship lessons for grades 4-8, focusing on the ethical use of AI, media literacy, and online safety.
