Hourly, Non-Exempt Reports to: Headmaster Work days : This is a part-time position averaging no more than 20 hours per week throughout the year. The work schedule will extend beyond the traditional school calendar and may include responsibilities during the summer months.
Position Overview :
The Family Engagement Coordinator serves as a bridge between the school, families, and the broader community to support student success, positive communication, and strong family engagement. This role fosters welcoming relationships with prospective new and new families, coordinates outreach efforts, connects families with resources, and helps create a welcoming school culture where all students and families feel supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities :
Build positive and collaborative relationships between families, students, staff, and community partners. Serve as a primary point of contact for new family communication and support. Coordinate family engagement events and school outreach activities. Support family participation in school programs, meetings, and student success initiatives. Assist new families in accessing school and community resources, services, and supports. Collaborate with the chairman of the AFF, administration, and support staff to address new student and family needs. Help facilitate communication between home and school, including assisting with culturally responsive outreach when appropriate. Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, engagement activities, and family support services. Promote a welcoming and respectful school environment for all families. Develop partnerships with community organizations such as the AFF and Booster Club that benefit students and families. Participate in school committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities as assigned. Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred Experience working with families, schools, or community organizations is preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking skills Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude Willingness to take responsibility for being on time and maintaining attendance as an essential part of job performance Adherence and loyalty to the school and ACA's mission and vision and adherence to all school policies Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace Bilingual skills preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required by event schedules Physical Requirements of a Family Engagement Coordinator Ability to move around the office and event venues, including walking, standing, and occasionally lifting materials (e.g., event supplies, marketing materials) Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk using a computer for writing, planning, and managing communications Ability to lift and carry up to 20-30 pounds, especially when setting up for events or moving supplies Ability to clearly convey information in person, on the phone, and in writing; strong verbal communication for speaking at events or with donors Occasional local or regional travel to meet with donors or attend off-site fundraising events
