  • Denotes Essential Functions)
  • Serve as campus coordinator and point-of-contact for the Banner Student Information System (Banner SIS) for the College. Provide functional support to campus Banner SIS users and communicate with the UH System Banner Office for assistance as necessary.
  • Convene and coordinate meetings among campus Banner SIS users. Provide timely information and advice, such as, systemic Banner SIS modifications, new technology Introduction, and synchronization with other data systems of the University.
  • Collaborate with campus units (student services, administration, etc.) to ensure integration of various informational systems with the least amount of service disruption.
  • Coordinate, train, and assist campus Banner SIS users to facilitate effective usage of the information system and applications related to curriculum management, course modifications, and course scheduling.
  • Provide assistance and training to faculty in the course modification/proposal process to improve clarity in course proposals, and to support non-standard class scheduling needs to further academic initiatives.
  • Serve as Curriculum Management System Administrator to ensure the course approval system is functioning property, update curriculum database workflows, user directory, and notification lists.
  • Coordinate and review all course changes with campus Curriculum Committee to identify and clarify discrepancies. Direct program proposals, memorandums, and miscellaneous curriculum documentation through the approval process.
  • Ensure elements of new course proposals and modifications to existing proposals are formatted properly and appropriate to improve clarity in proposals, and to facilitate transfer of proposal from campus to system-wide curriculum management database.
  • Maintain records of curriculum course modifications and ensure accurate and timely updates to course-related data in Banner SIS.
  • Represent the campus at system-wide meetings, such as curriculum management user-group, curriculum management development/transition group. Participate in Banner/curriculum management interface development/transition sub-committees.
  • Address defect reports and enhancement requests with appropriate groups.
  • Create records in Banner SIS and internal file storage server. Convert documents suitable to file transfer protocol application for uploading to internal web server.
  • Responsible for setting up Banner SIS to begin course scheduling and registration activity for each term. Collaborate with Registrar and Fiscal Authority, or their designee, to disseminate scheduling timelines to the campus.
  • Monitor the input of classes by divisions and review information for accuracy. Advise and follow up with appropriate unit for corrections.
  • Coordinate with Registrar to execute Banner operations. Process encrypted SAT and ACT scores through internet reporting systems; evaluate, score, date, and code official and unofficial student records, etc.
  • Update Banner programming rules to accommodate student placements. Evaluate and improve processing of transfer data.
  • Track and evaluate registration failures and errors to correct and improve systemic or recurring functionality problems.
  • Collaborate with registration staff, counselors, or other responsible officials in the resolution of discrepancies associated with curriculum management and registration system issues.
  • Track curriculum changes for updates to campus course catalog. Proofread, edit, and resolve reported discrepancies. Submit final edit to Media Services for publication.
  • Assist in the development of reports using available Banner SIS data for management decisions and improved operations at the College. Provide annual campus statistical data/report to requesting UH offices.
  • Retrieve, review, and analyze data from all UH System-wide online student portals and databases (e.
g. STAR, Banner, MyUH, Laulima, Articulation databases, etc.) and other sources of institutional data as requested. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Education, Computer Science, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for managing student Information and/or curriculum databases; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of student information systems and/or curriculum databases as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student enrollment and/or information management. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge and/or experience working with Banner, STAR, and/or curriculum databases. Knowledge and/or experience with responsibilities for course scheduling.
