Broad Function/Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for working with faculty to design and create highly interactive online, blended, and face-to-face learning content for academic courses at Simpson College. The designer will provide course design support and guidance to full-time and part-time Simpson faculty, working directly with faculty to help them plan, design, develop, and revise course materials. They will assist faculty with academic technology-related questions and ways to modify face-to-face courses for online delivery. The designer will handle multiple projects simultaneously, working collaboratively with staff and faculty across the institution. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Support full-time and part-time Simpson faculty with the course design process, helping them develop activities and materials that enhance student learning and retention. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist faculty in posting video resources Investigation, design, and deployment of instructional technologies that support learning both in the classroom and online Updating technology-related resources in Moodle and on Simpson's Teaching & Learning Center webpages Collaborating with the Office of Student Accessibility Services on student accommodations and UDL Developing and providing training (both face-to-face and online) for Simpson's academic software platforms. Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Broad experience with learning management systems Knowledge of teaching in various modalities of blended and online instructional environments Strong interpersonal skills, courtesy, and tact to communicate effectively with faculty and staff Preference given to candidates with a teaching background.
