JOB OVERVIEW
The Instructional Coach is a teacher who has both content and instructional expertise particularly in reading, writing and/or math. The Instructional Coach facilitates the district's professional development model by demonstrating lessons, observing classroom instruction and coaching teachers one-on-one or in small group settings. The Instructional Coach focuses on enhancing the teachers ability to provide instruction that (1) builds student understanding and skills, (2) is academically rigorous, (3) addresses the curriculum standards and frameworks, and (4) enhances student sense of engagement and ownership in learning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must hold valid Illinois Professional Educator License or other License as required This position requires an endorsement in Self Contained General Education K-9 or Self Contained Birth-Grade3 Endorsement A completed/submitted online application, resumé, and letters of recommendation as required on the online application Ability to work as a team member The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement a collaborative coaching and learning approach Assist teachers in a collaborative model of observation, conversation and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices Model effective instruction Facilitate professional collaborative groups among teachers in which issues related to implementing effective content instruction are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, engaging lessons are planned and student work and data are reviewed to inform instruction Regular collaboration with administrators (instructional non-evaluative dialogue). Constant communication with Assistant Superintendent Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessment Identifies needs and plans with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum for the pre-service and in-service sessions for staff Attends staff and committee meetings as needed Maintain Professional Educator License as required by law
