Job Description
Derby Public Schools is seeking a district-level 6-12 grade Math Instructional Coordinator for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The applicant for this position will possess a deep understanding of how to facilitate the development of mathematical concepts for educators and students alike. Secondary Math certification is required. As a member of our district-wide curriculum team, the Secondary Math Instructional Coordinator will have additional shared curriculum responsibilities including partnering with others to facilitate writing medium to large scale grants. We are looking for someone who is committed to making real-world mathematics applications to all subjects for our students and use grants to innovate student learning. Instructional Coordinator Job Description Purpose:
To help teachers translate curriculum goals and objectives into meaningful learning experiences for all students in the district.Responsible to:

Exempt Qualifications:
1. Current Kansas State Teaching License. 2. Master degree preferred. 3. Three years certified teaching experience. 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board finds appropriate and acceptable.Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities a. Provide professional leadership in curriculum design and instructional delivery. b. Communicate effectively with district staff. c. Support and enhance the development of student assessments. d. Support and enhance the infusion of technology and 21st Century instructional strategies into classroom instruction throughout the district. e. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations. 2.Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods. b. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach. c. Requires the ability to travel. d. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. e. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.General Responsibilities:
Curriculum 1. Provide staff leadership to ensure the understanding and support of educational goals in the district through collaboration with teachers. 2. Interpret and facilitate implementation of the district's curriculum. 3. Provide staff leadership in ways that the curriculum can be adjusted through scaffolding, differentiation, modification and accommodation to meet the special learning needs of all children. 4. Participate in proposed and ongoing curriculum development projects through K12 review. 5. Engage, as assigned, in research related to curriculum development. 6. Assist with the creation of edits for publication of all curriculum guides, curriculum maps, and materials prepared by and to be distributed among the instructional staff. 7. Facilitate the ongoing process of mapping the K-12 curriculum utilizing current technology resources for developing, analyzing, and aligning the curriculum vertically and horizontally. 8. Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices by participating in conferences and training opportunities that support and expand on the goals of the district. Technology and Resources 9. Take a lead role in reviewing and recommending software, instructional technologies, and digital resources for classroom use that reflect 21st Century learning and the Common Core Standards. 10. Serve as a consultant in the selection of instructional and technology supplies, equipment and resources. 11. Stay current with informational and trends, including knowledge of new databases, educational materials and technology tools. Professional Development 12. Assist in the planning, facilitating and conducting of workshops and other in- service opportunities to help raise the level of instructional performance for all students. 13. Assist in the planning, facilitating and conducting of training in specialized instruction for at-risk and special populations. 14. Stay current with and research the application of best practices for instruction and assessment. 15. Promote 21st Century Learning skills and strive to connect teachers to global opportunities for collaborating, learning, and creating. 16. Act as liaison to staff in communicating federal, state, and district expectations/requirements. 17. Support administrators in facilitating the implementation of educational goals of the district in their buildings. Assessment/Data Management 18. Assist in the construction and evaluation of classroom assessments. 19. Train and support teachers in administration of screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments. 20. Facilitate the management of assessment databases. 21. Provide teachers with support in analyzing and interpreting data to make instructional decisions. 22. Assist in reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide assessment programs, and for other evaluative measures used by the schools. 23. Provide guidance in developing and implementing tools for reporting of student progress utilizing the district data systems. 24. Support building improvement teams in creating documents forQPA/NCA. 25.
Assist the Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum and Instruction with state assessments by: a. Secure necessary materials. b. Plan and implement training for building principals and test administrators. c. Ensure each building principal is trained in the implementation of procedural modifications used during test administrations. d. Train test administrators to ensure the need for test modifications are documented and that modifications are limited to the specific need. 26. Attend curriculum state meetings as required. Coaching 27. Assist teachers at their request in organizing classrooms for effective learning. 28. Serve at the request of principals as advisor and special consultant to teachers. Other 29. Adhere to all district health and safety policies. 30. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum and Instruction, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
