Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at RW Combs Elementary as a Literacy Coordinator. This full-time position is essential in promoting literacy development and fostering a love for reading among our students. The Literacy Coordinator will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the community to implement effective literacy programs, assess student progress, and provide targeted support to enhance reading skills across all grade levels. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive literacy programs that align with school and district goals. Collaborate with teachers to create and deliver professional development workshops focused on best practices in literacy instruction. Assess student literacy levels through various tools and methods, and use data to inform instruction and intervention strategies. Provide individualized support and coaching to teachers in literacy instruction and curriculum development. Coordinate and oversee school-wide literacy events, including reading challenges, book fairs, and family literacy nights. Engage with parents and the community to promote literacy initiatives and encourage reading at home. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of literacy programs and make recommendations for improvement. Stay current with research and trends in literacy education and integrate them into school practices. Collaborate with other educational staff to support students with diverse learning needs. Maintain accurate records of student progress and program outcomes. Requirements Strong knowledge of literacy development theories, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Proven experience in developing and implementing literacy programs and interventions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, staff, and parents. Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Familiarity with educational technology and resources to enhance literacy instruction. Passion for promoting literacy and a love of reading among students.
