Job Title:
K-5 Math Instructional Coach (Bridges in Mathematics Specialist) Position Overview The K-5 Math Instructional Coach supports elementary teachers in delivering engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction grounded in the Bridges in Mathematics framework. This role emphasizes developing students' conceptual understanding, fluency, and problem-solving skills while building teacher expertise across all elementary grade levels. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching (modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback) to K-5 teachers implementing Bridges in Mathematics
  • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons that build number sense, computational fluency, and mathematical reasoning across grades K-5
  • Facilitate professional learning focused on elementary math best practices, including: oUse of manipulatives and visual models oMath discourse and student-centered instruction oDifferentiation for diverse learners
  • Guide teachers in administering and interpreting formative and summative assessments within Bridges units
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to analyze student work and assessment data to inform instruction
  • Ensure vertical alignment of math instruction from kindergarten through grade 5
  • Promote equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices in elementary math classrooms
  • Assist with family communication and resources to support math learning at home Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Mathematics, or related field
  • Valid elementary teaching certification (K-5 or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with Bridges in Mathematics in a K-5 setting
  • Deep understanding of child development and how students learn mathematics in the elementary years
  • Strong knowledge of math content across K-5 domains (number sense, operations, fractions, geometry, measurement, and data)
  • Experience in instructional coaching, mentoring, or teacher leadership Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working across multiple elementary grade levels (K-2 and 3-5)
  • Background in facilitating adult learning or leading professional development Key Competencies
  • Ability to translate math standards into developmentally appropriate instruction
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills with adult learners
  • Data-driven decision making using elementary assessment tools
  • Relationship building with teachers, students, and families
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice Work Environment
  • Elementary school setting with daily classroom-based coaching across grades K-5
  • Collaboration with classroom teachers, academic advisors and school leadership
