Immediately Job Description The Curriculum Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting a cycle of continuous improvement for grades PK - 8, leading to improved student achievement. The Coordinator builds a shared vision for effective instruction in their domain, ensures a strong curriculum is in place for each grade, and monitors student success. In collaboration with campus and district leadership, the Coordinator identifies instructional change priorities, orchestrates effective professional learning, and monitors changes in practice. The Coordinator supports leadership and teachers to understand and implement curriculum as well as content area best practice, in service of identified student learning goals. Essential Functions Curriculum Leadership & Content Expertise In collaboration with district leaders and other Coordinators, articulates the vision for student-centered and culturally responsive teaching and learning. Supports campus leaders to build a shared vision on their campuses Oversees selection of curricula that are aligned to district instructional vision and the needs of our community, and monitors their effectiveness Coordinates scheduled curriculum review processes under direction of Chief Academic Officer Uses content expertise and principles of culturally responsive teaching to support and oversee curriculum implementation Develops, revises, or adapts curriculum to meet student and teacher needs Collaborates with other instructional leaders to promote curricular and instructional coherence across subject areas Monitors the effectiveness of instruction within the department through walkthroughs, observations, and data analysis Collaborates with Principal/Director to ensure families are well informed about curricula and instructional approaches Instructional Support & Coaching Observes instruction regularly (in collaboration with campus leaders) to identify teacher and student learning needs and create effective action plans to address those needs. Supports campus leaders in their understanding of the curriculum and its implementation and their ability to observe and give instructional feedback effectively Supports campus leaders in their ability to monitor the effectiveness of instruction within their building, using walkthroughs, observations, and data analysis. Supports them to then create data-driven and high leverage action plans Provides or orchestrates targeted professional learning aligned to curriculum expectations, instructional best practices, and district priorities, and campus goals. Data, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement Identifies suite of assessment tools to best track student learning progress and supports their effective use by teachers and campus leaders Supports the development of an effective system of data analysis to monitor student progress at identified intervals, for general trends and for the identification of vulnerable students not yet showing sufficient progress. Supports the development of a data-based planning culture for teachers and leaders, where observational and formative information is regularly analyzed to identify current student strengths and needs, and this information is then used effectively to plan/adapt lessons Analyzes district, school and grade level student achievement and classroom observation data to identify short and long term trends, strengths, and areas for growth. In collaboration with district instructional leaders, oversees the design of effective tiered support systems to ensure high growth for all students. Supports campus leaders with the effective deployment of identified support systems. Supports campus leaders and teacher teams to analyze their own data, reach actionable conclusions, and develop effective action plans to close achievement gaps Supports campus multi-tiered systems of support by identifying and supporting best practice intervention strategies, providing or supporting professional learning, advising campus leadership teams on design and implementation, and working closely with Specialists Works closely with Principal/Director and Specialists to ensure effective intervention strategies and multi-tiered systems of support structures are implemented for their department. Identifies key goals and next steps for content area instruction, within and across campuses, and supports leadership teams in setting priorities and making effective plans to address identified priorities Partners with District Leaders and Principals/Director to analyze progress made and identify priorities in conjunction with yearly SIP planning process. Supports campus-based instructional leadership teams in implementing curriculum, assessments, and feedback cycles. Additional Functions Supports districtwide professional development initiatives, including the New Teacher Institute and year-round PD sessions. Serves as a member of the district academic leadership team. Completes other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Expertise for Science Coordinator Deep knowledge of research-based best practices in science grades K-8 Deep understanding of the Science, Technology, and Engineering Curriculum Framework K-8 and the content and skills covered. Experience with OpenSciEd preferred Understanding of SEI and best practice for supporting language development in a community of multilingual learners Education & Licensure Bachelor's degree required Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field strongly preferred Possess a valid Massachusetts DESE License (Relevant Content Area) as a condition of employment after the first year. Experience Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, with a demonstrated track record of strong student achievement outcomes Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation aligned to standards and best practices Strong knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and ability to support diverse learners Experience analyzing student achievement data and using data to drive instructional decision-making and continuous improvement Demonstrated ability to observe instruction and provide high-quality, actionable feedback and coaching to educators Experience supporting or leading professional development aligned to instructional priorities Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and strategies for supporting a range of learners Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence and support both teachers and school leaders Excellent communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings, lead professional development Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Alignment with Prospect Hill Academy Charter School's mission, values, and educational model. Exceptional communication, change management, and cross-functional leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in charter, urban public school, or multi-school network settings. Experience leading large-scale instructional improvement initiatives.
