Job Description
Cedar Springs Public Schools invites devoted educators to apply for consideration in becoming a 6-12 Instructional Specialist. This individual will make a positive impact on student outcomes through effectively supporting teachers in the use of resources as well as research-based instructional practices. This position is a full-time, 205-days per school year. This indvidual will work in tandem with our K-5 Instructional Specialist, and will report directly to the Director of Secondary Academic Services. Tasks will include working with building leaders, teachers, and support staff to ensure that our schools maintain vertical and horizontal curriculum, instruction, intervention, and assessment alignment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Master's degree in an education-related field preferred
Knowledge and experience in secondary education, pedagogy, and learning experiences
Use of principles of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support within the school setting
Demonstrated knowledge of assessments
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Professional development facilitation experience preferred
Demonstrated technology skills
Experience in working with students of various ages and abilities
Experience with instructional consulting
Experience leading peer-led, evidence-based professional learning
Evidence of a positive attitude and human relation skills
Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters
Ability to manage time and be self-directed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Apply knowledge of current trends and research in data analysis, curriculum, instruction, assessment, equitable practices, building teacher capacity, and professional development.
Use extensive knowledge of strategies, techniques, and standards involved in instruction within and across disciplines when meeting with teachers.
Meet with teachers during a regular coaching cycle to develop an instructional plan for students that include use of available technology.
Guide teachers during a regular coaching cycle in reflecting on instructional delivery of lessons and student mastery of content based on student data.
Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with teachers and administrators through effective and confidential communication.
Conduct effective and meaningful staff workshops related to improving student learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to model, inform and promote instructional best practices in the classroom and advocate for the needs of all students.
Provide professional learning supports through instructional coaching to connect new learning and improve engagement in the classroom.
Work collaboratively with other coaches across the district.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Experience with the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Demonstrated experience with data analysis.
Demonstrated experience in using normed formative assessments and diagnostic assessments to inform instructional practices
Extensive experience working with diverse student populations
Communicate results of local and state assessment data to stakeholders as requested.
Use the school improvement plan in working with colleagues to set student achievement goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.

We are located within the city limits of Cedar Springs, Michigan in Kent County. Cedar Springs Public Schools is one of 20 member public school districts within the Kent Intermediate School District (KISD).
