About the Instructional Support Program (ISP): At DCHS, we are committed to providing opportunities that nurture each student's spiritual, academic, social and creative growth. The ISP is a program designed to provide tailored, academic interventions and accommodations to eligible students. The program aims to provide all students who desire a Catholic education with the opportunity to receive the same excellent education regardless of a diagnosed learning difference. Students in this program will learn to be self-advocates and independent learners through excellent instruction and support in the classroom and as well as individualized time with the ISP Staff.Position Description:
Divine Child High School, a co-educational, Catholic learning community, is seeking a focused, dedicated, and qualified full time Instructional Support Specialist to join our staff for the 2026-2027 school year. The Instructional Specialist within the ISP at DCHS is primarily responsible for assisting ISP students in implementing accommodations, interventions, and strategies as a means to foster academic progress. This individual will be working with the students, content teachers, and the ISP team to develop individualized systems that allow students to respond positively to academic instruction and develop their self-advocacy and independent working/learning skills. This individual will also work with the ISP Staff to assist with tracking the academic progress of individual students by meeting with them in student-led conferences. The position reports to the ISP Director, and ultimately the Principal. Essential Job Responsibilities Provide and coordinate multi-tiered interventions on behalf of identified students. Support implementation of accommodations and modifications based on students' building plans in collaboration with other Instructional Support Program teachers. Integrate a variety of materials and assistive technology applications into the learning environment appropriate to the unique learning style and educational ability of students. Administer formative and summative assessments as requested. Maintain records of student goals, interventions, objectives, and student progress data. Coordinate and provide direct academic support for individual students weekly before/after school, as needed Collaborate and consult with fellow educators, instructional support staff, and ancillary support services regarding student needs. Provide instructional recommendations to classroom faculty that support differentiation, universal design for learning, accommodations, modified curriculum, and personalized learning. Analyze and interpret MET data and other academic & cognitive testing results, in collaboration with the Department Director, to identify appropriate academic accommodations based on student strengths and weaknesses. Co-teach or teach as invited. Maintain communication with families regarding academic and behavioral concerns. Attend parent meetings and ISP planning meetings, as needed. Participate in various school-wide and department outreach events. Participate in required professional development and meet staff development expectations set by DCHS and the Archdiocese of Detroit. Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, communication, and work habits. Perform additional duties as assigned. Degree in Special Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Preferred teaching endorsements: Learning Disabilities endorsement (SM); Cognitive Impairment (SA), covering grades 9-12; Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) Experience with students presenting emotional and behavioral disabilities Ability to use evaluative classroom procedures to improve instruction and assess the physical, social, emotional, and mental developments of students Proficient and knowledgeable in his/her area of teaching and must be able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant teaching environment while maintaining appropriate classroom discipline Understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules of Special Education (MARSE), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
