None Position Purpose:
The Medical Simulation Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting simulation-based education and training programs within Children's Hospital of Michigan. The coordinator will work closely with the Medical Director(s) and the Medical Simulation Resident Chief to ensure the following key responsibilities are met. The role focuses on supporting clinical competency, patient safety, interprofessional education, onboarding, and continuing professional development for healthcare staff
  • including residents, fellows, and nurses.
The coordinator ensures the effective operation of simulation activities that align with hospital policies, clinical standards, and patient safety goals.
Qualifications:
Associates degree from two-year college or comparable work experience. Experience in a Hospital/University setting, preferred. Knowledge of medical students, residents and fellows preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Problem solve involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Fellowship Education Coordinator:
1. Schedule meetings, answers phones, prepares correspondence and maintains files. 2. Coordinate educational programs to include, confirming speakers, reserving rooms, arranging catering and preparing handouts. 3. Attend all meetings for GMEC and other meetings requested by DIO, including preparing agenda, taking meeting minutes and prepares for distribution. 4. Prepare or assist in preparing papers for meetings, reviews, and other transactions such as department meetings, and educational seminars for students. 5. Determine work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. 6. Issue written and oral instructions. 7. Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. 8. Maintain harmony among workers and resolves grievances. 9. Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. 10. Assist programs with recruitment activities. 11. Maintain Internal Review reports and responses. 12. Prepare and maintain accreditation documentation/Program Information Forms (PIF) for fellowship programs. 13. Processes expense reports and travel requests and maintains/updates calendar for management. Essential Responsibilities and Duties for Medical Simulation Coordinator. 1. Simulation Operations Coordinate and support simulation activities, including clinical skills training, mock codes, onboarding programs and competency assessments. Prepare simulation environments such as simulation labs, in-situ clinical areas (ex ICU, ER, Floor), and mobile simulation setups. Operate and troubleshoot high-fidelity and low-fidelity manikins, task trainers, simulation software, and audiovisual systems during training sessions Ensure timely setup, breakdown, and resetting of simulation spaces 2. Equipment and Inventory Management Maintain simulation equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality. Manage inventory of simulation supplies, including consumables, simulation medications, and clinical equipment Coordinate with hospital departments and vendors for maintenance, repairs and upgrades. 3. Clinical Education and Faculty Support Collaborate with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff to support simulation scenarios aligned with hospital protocols and evidence-based practice Assist in scenario development, programming, and testing to reflect real clinical workflows and patient safety priorities. Support standardized patients, clinical instructors, and facilitators during training activities. 4. Learner and Session Support Orient hospital staff and trainees to the simulation environment, equipment use, and safety procedures. Support psychologically safe learning environments and uphold confidentiality standards. Provide technical support for debriefings, including audiovisual playback and data capture as required. 5. Quality, Safety, and Performance Improvement Support hospital quality improvement intiatives through simulation, including root cause analysis follow-ups, risk mitigation training, and system testing. Collect and manage training data, attendance records, and feedback to support performance improvement and reporting Participate in simulation-based testing of new equipment, workflows, or clinical spaces prior to implementation. Working Conditions:
1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance. 2. Able to complete duties under stress, deadlines, and while attending to multiple duties simultaneously. 3. Prolonged computer related exposure, as well as sitting and standing at workstations for long periods of time. 4. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 5. Bending, sitting, and standing frequently throughout the day. 6. Occasionally travel off-site for meetings, conferences, seminars, and training.
