Provide training to LEA personnel on how to access literacy data when submitting state and federal reports. Assess own professional development needs, determine appropriate educational and training resources, and participate in activities required to stay abreast of current educational reforms. External Contacts and Relationships Maintain positive networks and relationships with the Michigan Department of Education, other intermediate school districts, and local education agencies necessary to develop and facilitate local, county and state programs. Maintenance and Processing of Records, Documents and Database Decision Making Research, organize, assemble and maintain a variety of publications and materials used to orient, educate or train organizations and individuals in implementing research-based practices/programs. To Be Determined Job Description SUMMARY The primary purpose of this position is to assist HCISD and its Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with professional development, training and integrated implementation support for literacy assessment, curriculum, and instructional practices within a Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This position will focus on serving the prekindergarten- twelfth grade levels.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Committee and Task Force Participation Serve on various internal and external committees, as required, to promote and facilitate effective attitudes and initiatives relevant to early literacy and literacy achievement. Serve as a core staff member on the HCISD District Early Literacy Implementation Team. LEA and Community Relations Appear before community/educational groups to explain the importance and processes of improving student skills in reading and writing, to support constituent districts in reaching literacy goals, and to celebrate improved literacy as appropriate. Development of Policies, Programs and Services Participate in planning and development of programs and services related to meeting the needs of our Hillsdale County ISD constituent districts. Develop prekindergarten- secondary literacy initiatives supported by HCISD.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification Master's Degree preferred with coursework in English Language Arts, Curriculum, Instruction, Differentiation and/or Assessment or a closely related field required. Advanced coursework in reading or has completed a professional development in evidence based literacy core instructional strategies. Knowledge of current state literacy standards for pupils in grades pre-K to 5. Experience implementing an instructional delivery model based on frequent use of formative, screening, and diagnostic tools, known as a multi-tiered system of support, to determine individual progress for pupils in grades pre-K to 5 so that pupils are reading at grade level. Has sufficient knowledge of scientifically based reading research, special expertise in quality reading instruction and infusing reading strategies into content area instruction. Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certification required in K-5 English Language Arts or have a BT or BR endorsement. Demonstrated work history using all dimensions of English Language Arts from Pre-K to 5th Grade Experience Demonstrated work history with English Language Arts, education networks, teams, professional learning communities, and MTSS. Previous successful experiences in training, presenting information to groups and facilitating improvement progress. Problem solving skills relative to change and pursuit of excellence. Able to work independently to accomplish work goals and objectives. Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and boundary skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing on a one-to-one basis and with groups in situations which have limited impact on the ISD as a whole. Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels in an organization. Successful classroom teaching experience. Demonstrated work history using literacy tools, models and activities. Experience in planning staff development, public speaking, and creation of training materials. Experience working within special education. Understanding and application of Adult Learning Principles . Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Skills related to gathering, managing, analyzing and using data to make instructional decisions. Knowledge and application in secondary classroom setting Knowledge of pre-K and elementary instruction, curriculum development, differentiation (and service to advanced and accelerated learners) and assessment. Knowledge of literacy assessments and a variety of reporting procedures. Strong knowledge of research and evidence-based practices in early literacy instructions and familiarity with Positive Behavior Intervention Support within a MTSS Framework. Knowledge of current state and federal educational regulations (including the Michigan Curriculum Framework, Grade Level Content Expectations, High School Course Expectations, Common Core Curriculum, No Child Left Behind and Education YES). Skills in training and public speaking. Skills related to technology use and experience using multiple online platforms. Ability to work as a member of a team. Must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure continuity of services and support district operations.
